Trained in the method, lived it, taught it. Multiple Lean LaunchPad and Stanford Biodesign cohorts, and years coaching the people who lead innovation teams.
-
I speak engineering. Over a decade in product development and manufacturing — enough time in requirements, testing, and production to recognize how a loosely defined need turns into an "unforeseen" failure two years later.
-
I speak clinical. Hundreds of in-depth physician conversations. Comfortable in their language, so the need comes back first-hand rather than filtered through a translator.
-
I speak the room where deals happen. Long-standing relationships with founders and leadership at both start-ups and established manufacturers, built on finding where interests genuinely overlap.
Background
I spent over a decade in process and quality engineering on Class III
endovascular implants — stents and stent grafts for peripheral arterial
disease and aortic aneurysm repair — developing devices and advancing
the manufacturing behind them.
The second decade is where I found the part I cared about most: the
front end. Leading cross-functional teams through the innovation
process remains the most rewarding stretch of my career.
Most recently, corporate development sharpened it from the other side.
Evaluating opportunities through market and access analysis, valuation,
and diligence showed me how reliably a company's prospects trace back to
how well it understood the need in the first place.
Built North was founded to help start-ups get products to market that
leave patients, or the environment, better off.
